“A dense group of bushes or trees”: thicket. Density, movement, nature, and intensity, are words to define a space formatted by such a term. The “Albizia Julibrissin” project, hence, incorporates the above aspects as well as the creation of a sensorial experience due to the effect of the Albizia flowers, or Persian tree flowers, that are carefully representing an immersion to a play of light and shade, and structural design.
Inspired by the concept of the Penetrable BBL Bleu at the Perez Art Museum in Miami, the design is an experiment of creating a divided space with rooms that still have no walls, but strings falling from the pattern of the triangular frame.
As in the intention of representing thin PVC tubes, the model is developed through the use of the petals of real Albizia flowers. In East Asia, the plant is known as “Collective Happiness Flower”, for its resourcefulness of nourishing in many levels, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Given such value of the flower, the Albizia Julibrissin project intends to create a multi-sensory immersion into a dimension that causes happiness and curiosity to live in the present moment, while incorporating a thicket aspect and groundness with nature.
